Goodman and Nellie Lyseng Norvik

Nellie was born on February 9, 1889 in Clinton, Minnesota. She was the third daughter of Erick and
Berit Lyseng. Nellie took her elementary education at Clinton, Minnesota and was confirmed there.

At the age of fourteen she became a Canadian citizen along with her parents. She furthered her education
at Camrose Lutheran College pursuing a business course and was in the first graduating class of 1913. She
worked as a secretery and as a telephone operator. She had a good voice and loved to sing. Nellie married
Gundmund Norvick around 1917-18. They had three children: Emery, Beatrice and Gladys.

After Goodmund's death in 1925, Nellie and her family moved to Camrose where she worked at first -
then ran a boarding house. Nellie's sister Tillie also lived with them after Gudmund died. Emery, apprenticed
as a pharmacist, but when World War II came along, he enlisted as a Flight Sergeant in the Royal Canadian
Air Force, and was unfortunately killed in a practice flight over England on June 26, 1942.

After selling her farm and her house in Camrose, Nellie moved to Vancouver, with her family, her mother
and her sister Tillie. Nellie passed away on July 26th, 1975 in Vancouver at the age of 86. She is buried in
Scandia Cemetery with her husband, Gudmund. Godmund was born on May 25, 1890 and passed away on
November 15, 1925.
