Helmer Richard Hendrickson was born in January 1902. He was the first Canadian-born Hendrickson.
He attended Thordenskjold School and Camrose Lutheran College in Camrose.

After he finished school, he worked for Mr. Corck in Wainwright. Later, after he married Gunhild Moen
of Bardo in 1925, they had a jewelry shop of their own in Holden.

In 1928, they came back to the Armena district settling on a farm where their four children were born.

In 1937, Helmer developed rheumatic fever so they had to leave the farm and the cold, Alberta winters.

In 1942, they moved to Delta, BC where he and his four children live. His wife, Gunhild was killed in an
accident in 1979. Helmer retired after spending many years as a finishing carpenter. Helmer died in 1995.
Helmer and Gunhild's children are: Miriam, Betty, Chester and Donald.
