Kari Alice was born in 1901 at home in Clinton, Minnesota. She was educated at Thordenskjold School and
attended Camrose Lutheran College for high school. She met Richard Thompson who was a grain buyer for
Armena, Hay Lakes, and Lake Demay, east of Armena.

They had one son, Donald in 1932, while they lived at Lake Demay. Shortly after, the family moved to Calgary
where they lived for many years. Later, Alice and Dick moved to Edmonton when he retired. He died in 1963.

For some years, Alice worked as a seed analyst for the United Grain Growers until retirement. Her last years
were spent in an apartment near Calvary Lutheran Church where she was very active. She passed away peace-
fully in her sleep shortly after her 80th birthday and was buried beside her husband in Edmonton in 1981.
