Alma Lyseng Hoyme Biography

Alma was born April 23, 1893 at Clinton, Minnesota. At the age of nine she moved with her family to Canada.
She attended Thordenskjold School and in 1911 attended the first class ever held at Camrose Lutheran College
and graduated with the first graduating class in 1913. In 1915 she attended Camrose Normal School and graduated
from Alberta Universtiy Summer School in 1915. Alma taught at the Thordenskjold School in 1916 and then taught
one year at New Salem, south of Camrose the next year.

On July 25, 1918, Alma married Gustav Edward Hoyme. They took a homestead across from the school and farmed
there until Edward passed away on August 21, 1955. In the fal of 1959, Alma moved into Camrose where she lived
with her son Orin until moving into Bethany Home in 1977, where she received loving care until she passed away on
February 24, 1981 at the age of 87.
