Edwin Martin Lyseng was born on 29 January 1923 at Sissteton, Roberts,
South Dakota, USA.1 He is the son of Nels K. Lyseng and Julia Bjerke.
Edwin Martin Lyseng married Carol Lewis on 21 October 1952 at 
Minneapolis, Hennipen, Minnesota, USA.
     
Edwin Martin Lyseng was a Bus Driver for Twin Cities Transit in Minneapolis,
Minnesota. He served in U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater of Operations during
World War II. His Boot Camp training was at Sandpoint, Idaho. Edwin sailed out
of San Francisco to Townsville, Austrailia on a Danish ship (SS Daystar) along
with 1500 other troops on board.

He then took the train to Brisbane, Sydney, & Melbourne, Australia. Edwin shipped
out to Milne Bay, New Guinea, then to Admiralty Islands. Much of the invasion of
Philipines (Leyte Gulf) took place out of Admiralties.

Edwin returned to San Pedro (Los Angeles area) on a converted liner - the SS Hershey.
He then went back to Fort Snelling, Minnesota where Ed was given an honorable
discharge. His rank at discharge was Seaman First Class.
Edwin passed away on September 6, 2012.

Edwin and Carol had one child: Scott Martin Lyseng.
