Evelyn was born on December 11, 1911, to Ernest Johnson and Christine Lyseng.
She married Nels Gjengdahl on October 9, 1937. Evelyn went by the name Evy.
Evelyn and Nels were married at St. Pauli Church. The attendants at the wedding were:
Ruth Gjengdahl, Mary Jane Gjengdahl, Henry Gjengdahl and Melvin Lyseng's son, Cameron Lyseng.

Evelyn passed away on March 8, 2001 in Fairmont, MN at the age of 89. Nels passed away March 21, 1990.
They are both buried in Mound Cemetery in Ortonville, MN.
