Knut K., like his father was good with his hands and was willing to try anything to make ends meet and to get ahead.
He was a first-rate blacksmith. He was also a carpenter and when he moved to Canada he brought with him shingles,
nails, plater, etc. with which he built a large, two-story home in 1902 to house his family, which numbered ten at the
time. Two more children, Edna and Robert were born shortly after they moved to Canada.

Knut's wife, Anne, was also talented and and spun wool for stockings, sweaters and mittens. She even wove cloth for
some of their clothing. The coffe pot was always on for family, friends or strangers who stopped by. Both Knut K.,
and Anne were people of deep faith and Knut donated land for the original Scandia Church and the cemetery as well.

Knut died in November 1932 and was buried next to his parents in Scandia Cemetery. Anne lived to be 85 and passed
away in November 1946. She rests beside her husband in Scandia Cemetery.
