In 1910, Lars and his sons Ed & Robert homesteaded at Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. Very difficult times followed there was no rain and no crops for seven years. Lars & Randine had 9 children - five of whom died young.

Lars was well read. He had good medical and dental books and equipment - and he helped many sufferers in pioneer days.

He moved his family to many diferent places including Minneapolis, Benson & Bigstone County, Minnesota. In Parkland, Washington, was the engineer at the Lutheran Academy. He built and operated his own sawmill at Parkland and at Weblin North Dakota. And, he built a flour mill at Summit, North Dakota - where he built for himself a big sawmill, hired many negro labourers, sawed lumber and built many buildings.

Randine was born on January 25, 1862 in Norway and passed away on April 11, 1948 in Bentley, Alberta. Her death certificate indicates that she had been suffering from Paralysis Agitans (Parkinson's Disease), Dementia and Bronchitis for the last 15 years of her life.

Lars was born on April 29, 1858 and passed away on December 15, 1914. He is buried in Elmhurst Cemetery in Saint Paul, MN.
