George Emil Hendrickson

George Emil Hendrickson was born in Clinton, Minnesota on February 23, 1892. He came with his family
Gunner and Mathea Hendrickson to Canada in 1901. He went to Thordenskjold School and spent one year
at the John Russel School in Camrose - and another at Augsburg College.
George was also one of the first students to attend the Camrose Lutheran College. After college, he became
a grain buyer at various locations in Alberta.
In 1917,
he joined the army and trained at Camp Sarcee in Calgary. When the war ended - he became a grain
buyer again.
George married Magda Anderson in 1922 and they moved to Armena. George worked at the Armena Grain
Elevator,
and Magda taught at Thordenskjold School.
George and Magda had five children: Gordon, Doris, James, Mary and
Joyce. George died in 1971. Magda
wrote several books as well. Magda died in 1989.

(formerly Camrose Lutheran College) The Augustana Distinguished Lectures were
established through a bequest
from the family of Magda and George Hendrickson.
