In April 1909, Gilbert purchased this General Store in Holden from George P. Smith. He then moved his family there. His daughter, Mary was in charge of the Post Office and accounting. This property was sold to Mr. Solund in 1910 and the Hendricksons moved back to the farm.

Martine was married to Gilbert (Gunnar) Hendrickson in 1884. In 1902, Gilbert moved his family by train to Armena,
Alberta, Canada. Mr. Knut E. Lyseng aged, 77 and Mrs. Knut E. Lyseng aged 73 also rode along with the
Hendricksons.

On the way up, Martine, along with seven children and her mother (Mrs. Knut E. Lyseng) rode in the caboose.
While stopped to switch tacks, Martine and Mrs. Knut E. Lyseng decided to make a meal for their family.
However, the train lurched, and Mrs. Knut E. Lyseng broke one of her ribs. Instead of riding in the caboose
from that point - they purchased passenger tickets to make the ride more comfortable for grandmother.

Martine was known far and wide for her capability of looking after the sick. She was not an R.N. but from time
to time was called in to the first Camrose Hospital by Drs. Lamb, Craig and Nordby as a nurse and anesthetist.

She was best-know as midwife delivering many babies, including Dr. Nordby's youngest, Alta. Seven pairs of twins
were also on her list of deliveries.

In 1910, the Canadian Northern Railway began the 37 mile grade between Bretona and the Camrose junction -
passing through the Lyseng-Hendrickson Settlement. The CNR named this area Armena. In 1912, phone lines
came into the district.

Knut E. Lyseng was not happy about this and refused to use the phone saying it was not right to speak to spirits
in the wall. Martine passed away in 1937 and is buried in Scandia Cemetery in Armena.

Martine was born on November 25, 1866 and passed away on April 9, 1937.

Gilbert was born on August 21, 1958 and passed away on June 2, 1931.
