Anne Lyseng Fylken
Anne was born and reared at North Lyseng farm in December 25, 1818.
She was married in Skrautvål Church. She originally married Ole Thorissen (Thorson),
but he died shortly after. In 1856: when she was a widow, she sold her property and
emigrated to America with her four small children.
At that time the trip was difficult and dangerous. She went to relatives in Manitowoc
County, Wisconsin. In 1858 Anne married Nils N. Fylken and lived in Liberty Township,
Wisconsin. Both Anne and Nils are buried in the Valders West Cemetery of the Faith
Lutheran Church at Valders Wisconsin. Their records may be found in the county records,
Volume 6 - Index, Pages 50 and 85.
A grandson once described Anne as "a typical Norwegian immigrant, industrious,
resourceful, kind, honest and reverent; a grandmother they were proud to honor
and remember".
