With deep regret, the family of Beatrice Sederberg announces her passing on December 31, 2005 at 83 years old in the
Nicola Valley Health Centre in Merritt. She is survived by her three children, Carmen (Craig) Fairley, Janice (Wayne) Richardson,
and Emery (Patti) Sederberg, and her sister, Gladys (George) Tryon,and seven grandchildren, Robin (Rod) Duerksen, Ryan (Erica) Fairley, Dwight Fairley,
Dylan (Vicky) Richardson, Shawn Sederberg, Krista Sederberg and Karin Sederberg, and four great grandchildren, Grace Duerksen, Mary Duerksen, Emmagin Richardson and Drayven Fairley,and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Sederberg, in 1971; her father, Gudmund Nordvik, in 1925; her mother, Nellie Norvick, in 1975 and her brother, Flt. Sgt.Emery Norwick, in 1942.


Beatrice Norvik was born at home on a farm at Armena, Alberta on September 19, 1922 into a family with strong Norwegian roots. Shegrew up in Camrose, Alberta at a time when many Canadians with European backgrounds chose to anglicize their surnames, and so the Norvik siblings became the Norwicks while their mother adopted aslightly different spelling. After her brother was killed in action in WW2, Beatrice moved to Vancouver with her mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, where she worked at Boeing for the remaining years ofthe war. She studied for two years at the Lutheran Bible Institutes in Seattle and Minneapolis and then she studied elementary education at the Provincial Normal School in Vancouver. Her first teaching positionwas at Malakwa, B. C. where she met and married Fred in 1950. After nine years at home raising her children & giving piano lessons, Beatrice returned to teaching in 1961. After a year in Blue River she arrived in Merritt where she taught for many years, mostly at Colletville Elementary School. During the first 15 years of her retirement she made frequent trips to Morelia, Mexico where she worked with her missionary friendsfor several months each year. She continued to live in her house on Blair Street in Merritt until August 2005 when she moved into Nicola Meadows Assisted Living Residence.A service celebrating Beatrice?s life will be held at the Crossroads Community Church (formerly Full Gospel Tabernacle) at 2990 VoghtStreet in Merritt at 1 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2006. Interment will take place at the Malakwa Cemetery in Malakwa, B.C. at 1 PM on Sunday, January 8, 2006.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beatrice's name to the Nicola Meadows Resident's Fund.
